ORG1865 French Window Silver 2

Ah, double glazing. The term alone brings to mind images of earnest salespeople sitting in your living room and refusing to leave. But thankfully those days are long gone, and as far as Essex Window and Door Centre is concerned, never did exist, that’s not how we work. But despite its lack of glamour, double glazing is pretty important.

Most people know that double glazing is essentially two panes of glass with a gap in between. This gap is typically filled with either air or an inert gas, like argon. The idea is that this gap provides extra insulation, which can help to keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Of course, we all know that heating and cooling your home is expensive. And while central heating and air conditioning are certainly effective, they can only do so much. If your home is poorly insulated, you’ll find that all that lovely warm air (or cool air, depending on the season) is seeping out through the windows, leaving you with a massive heating or cooling bill and a distinct feeling of resentment towards the universe.

This is where double glazing comes in. By providing an extra layer of insulation, double glazing helps to keep your home at a more consistent temperature. This means that your heating and cooling systems (if you have one) don’t have to work as hard, which in turn means that your energy bills will be lower. It’s a win-win situation.

Of course, the benefits of double glazing go beyond just saving you money. Double-glazed windows are also great for reducing noise pollution. If you live near a busy road or under a flight path, you’ll know just how disruptive outside noise can be. But with double glazing, you’ll find that your home is much more peaceful.

Also, let’s not forget about the security benefits, Double glazed windows are much harder to break than single-glazed windows, offering you greater security for your home.

So there you have it, double glazing may not be the most exciting topic in the world, but it’s definitely important. It can save you money, reduce noise pollution, and improve your home’s security. And let’s face it, anything that can do all that is pretty impressive, and certainly worth considering.
